Shore leave on Koh Samui — what matters

It's always a tender port

Koh Samui has no deep-water harbour. Ships anchor in the roads off Nathon and passengers go ashore by tender. That costs time at both ends, and every tour plan has to allow for it — which is why regular hotel excursions rarely suit cruise guests.

How much time do you really have?

Depending on the ship, six to nine hours pass between the first and the last tender, minus the crossings. The half-day tours here are planned for four to five hours, the full-day tours for six to eight — each with a buffer before the last boat.

Whichever ship you arrive on

The tours work for any ship that calls at Koh Samui, from a beach resort with a pool to a private island tour by minibus. You enter your ship when you book, so that the pickup time matches the tender plan.
